Type of activity
Held at Belleville Health and Sports Center and O’Fallon’s YMCA, this program is designed so you can exercise without having to worry about heat or poor air quality. Small groups work out at their own pace on stationary bikes, treadmills, and with light weights.
All sessions are supervised by a respiratory therapist who instructs in self-pacing, pulse taking, breathing techniques, and equipment use.
As a sub-set of Lively Lungs, Aqua Lungs is offered as an alternative that is designed to improve balance, strength and endurance in the water. Aqua Lungs is taught by an instructor from the YMCA and specially trained pulmonary rehabilitation staff from Memorial Hospital who monitor oxygen and provide professional support.
