calcium scoring
More than 33% of all Americans who have a heart attack show no symptoms, and 45% of all heart attacks occur in people under 65.

Memorial offers a simple, painless test to help you evaluate your risk of coronary disease. Heart Score uses computerized tomography (CT) scans, without injections, treadmills, or fasting, to determine the calcium content in your coronary arteries. Cardiac calcium scoring is recommended for men ages 40-70 and women ages 50-70, with one of the following risk factors:

  • Family history of heart disease
  • High cholesterol
  • Sedentary lifestyle
  • High blood pressure
  • History of smoking
  • Diabetes
  • Obesity

This screening test, interpreted by board-certified radiologists from Advanced Diagnostic Imaging, Ltd., is available using the new state-of-the-art CT scanner at Memorial Healthcare Center, 800 East Highway 50, O’Fallon.

For an appointment, a physician referral is not necessary, but we do recommend that you make sure your primary care physician receives a copy of your report. For more information about this new screening exam, call (618) 624-1797 or (618) 257-5676. To schedule an appointment, call (618) 622-3699.
