MEMORIAL HOSPITAL PROGRAMS APPROVED
AS EASE (Exhale Airway Stents for Emphysema) CLINICAL TRIAL SITES
(Belleville, Illinois) – Memorial Hospital’s Pulmonary Rehabilitation and Lively Lungs Programs have been approved as satellite exercise sites for EASE (Exhale Airway Stents for Emphysema) clinical trials being conducted by the SIUE School of Medicine in Springfield, Illinois.
A former Memorial Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program patient who now participates in the Lively Lungs Program is part of the EASE clinical trial.
Trial participants will be part of a random, double-blind clinical research study designed to evaluate the safety and efficacy of the airway bypass procedure in treating homogeneous emphysema.
Patients meeting the following criteria may qualify to participate in the EASE Trial for emphysema at SIU School of Medicine: 35 years of age or older, diagnosed with severe emphysema, have stopped smoking at least eight weeks before entering the trial.
