Memorial Hospital’s Satellite Lab Receives Accreditation
from College of American Pathologists
(Belleville, Il) Memorial Hospital’s Satellite Lab has received national recognition from the College of American Pathologists (CAP). As a result of random inspection, the lab will continue to hold a national accreditation.
“The accreditation is required for us to operate,” said Kathy Stanley, lab director. “However, it is a statement to the high quality of service provided by the lab.” Memorial’s Satellite Lab, located at Memorial healthcare Center, 800 East highway 50, O’Fallon, is one of 7,000 CAP-accredited laboratories nationwide.
The examination process involves the completion of checklists with hundreds of standards that must be met. Inspectors also examine the entire staff’s qualifications, the lab equipment and facilities, safety program and record as well as the overall management of the lab. The inspection ensures that all laboratory patients are receiving the highest standard of care.
“Few people outside the lab realize the amount of regulations that must be met in order to stay accredited. Enormous resources go into maintaining the high level of service we give to our customers.” said Stanley.
Memorial’s Satellite Lab has been accredited by the CAP since 1998.
