Memorial Hospital and O’Fallon YMCA
Offer Aquatic Physical Therapy Services
(O’Fallon, IL) Memorial Hospital, in conjunction with the O’Fallon YMCA, is pleased to offer aquatic physical therapy services. Aquatic therapy is a form of physical therapy that involves performing exercises in the water.
Aquatic therapy is an excellent way to rehabilitate a variety of musculoskeletal problems including back, hip, knee and shoulder ailments. It is especially beneficial for people who have difficulty with weight bearing activities due to arthritis, recent fracture, sprains, or being overweight. The buoyancy of the water allows patients to perform low impact exercises, while still experiencing enough resistance to strengthen muscles.
Enrollment for this program requires a referral from your physician. A physical therapist will need to evaluate your condition to determine if you are a good candidate for this form of therapy.
For more information on aquatic physical therapy, please contact Bridget Grissom, Physical Therapist at 618-624-3125.
