Memorial Hospital Honors Employees for Years of Service,
Keith Volkmann Named Employee of the Year

Over 370 Memorial Hospital, Memorial Care Center and Belleville Health and Sports Center employees were honored at this year’s Employee Recognition Dinner held May 21 at Fischer’s Restaurant in Belleville. Keith Volkmann was voted Employee of the Year by his peers and received recognition at the event.

Keith has been employed at Memorial for 20 years and is a technician in Environmental Services. Keith has been described as an integral part of the Memorial team for his efforts in keeping both Outpatient Surgery and the Operating Room clean and complaint-free. He is responsible for cleaning rooms and stocking housekeeping supplies. His co-workers say that he is a model employee who treats everyone with respect and has repeatedly qualified for perfect attendance. He resides in Swansea with his wife Vikki and has one stepson and an eleven-year-old granddaughter. He enjoys road trips, barbequing, fishing and camping in his spare time.

Other Employee of the Year finalists included: Trina Daggett, CNA of Fairview Heights; Abbey Justice, unit secretary of Belleville; Amy Jakob, oxygen therapy technician of Belleville; Jennifer Eversole, case management assistant of Belleville; Vickie Henry, RN of Swansea; Naike Lawary, environmental services technician of Belleville; Ann Hampel, RN of Carlyle; Robyn Klaver, respiratory care practitioner of O’Fallon; Eric Feder, physical therapist of Belleville; Pat Garrahan, security officer of Belleville and Ed Wachtel, central dispensing technician of Millstadt.


In addition to Employee of the Month awards, employees were recognized for their years of service. Six employees were recognized for 40 years of service; they include: Kenneth Augustine of Belleville; Geraldine Engelman of Belleville; Nancy Loepker of Beckemeyer; ,Marilyn Majka of Belleville; Dorothy Orrick of House Springs and Shirley Hummert of St. Libory. Fourteen employees were honored with 35 years of service; they include: Joy Hess of Belleville; Sylvia Plake of Belleville; Susan McMorris of Belleville; Barbara Behrns of Fayetteville; Patricia Sheehan of O’Fallon; Penney Haas of Belleville; Brenda Romine of Swansea; Cathleen Fenton of Swansea; Rowena Gibson of O’Fallon; Mary Happel of Belleville; Carol Harris of O’Fallon; Mary Kueper of Carlyle; Mary Stange of O’Fallon and Sandra Lind of Fairview Heights. Employees were also honored for five, 10, 15, 20, 25 and 30 years of service.
