Maternity Services

For nearly 50 years, Memorial's approach to maternity care has made us one of this area's leading maternity service providers. You, your baby and your family members are all very important to us, and Memorial's Maternity Center is proud to be an integral part of over 1,500 births annually.
  • Fully equipped labor, delivery recovery and mother-baby recovery suites.
  • Mother-Baby nursing model of care so the same nurse cares for both you and your baby.
  • The option of having your newborn spend the night in your room.
  • Newborn Lullaby announcing each new birth throughout the hospital.
Special Delivery Program

Our special delivery program is designed to help you make informed decisions in regards to your birth experience. By enrolling in this FREE program, you will receive several program options:
  • Discounts on the Childbirth Education Programs.
  • Informative newsletter at your home to give you tips on pregnancy, preparing for a new bays and labor/delivery.
  • Opportunity for a private one-on-one consultation with one of our registered nurses. She will discuss with you your birth plan and options available to you.

Expectant Parents Classes

Memorial's Maternity Center offers a wide variety of childbirth education classes to help you prepare for your birth experience. Classes include:
  • Prepared Childbirth
  • Childbirth Refresher
  • Baby Care and Parenting
  • Sibling Class
  • Prenatal Breastfeeding
  • Breastfeeding Support For New Mothers

Prepared Childbirth

This class provides eight hours of in-depth preparation for labor and birth, including breathing and relaxation exercises. Options for you and your baby's care at Memorial Maternity Center will be shared to help make your birth a personalized and positive experience.

Participants are encouraged to register before the fifth month of pregnancy and attendance is limited to those delivering at Memorial.

There is a $25 per couple fee. Special Delivery Program Members - $15 per couple. Call (618) 257-5855 for class dates and times.

Childbirth Refresher

The Childbirth Refresher Class is designed to give experienced parents updated information about the latest trends in labor, delivery and newborn care.

Limited to those delivering at Memorial, the classes are offered once a month. There is a $10 fee per couple or $5 per couple for Special Delivery members. For more information on class dates and times, call (618) 257-5855.

Baby Care and Parenting

This two-session program teaches you how to care for, play with and protect your infant from birth to age 12 months. Topics presented include: newborn care, infant feeding, baby bathing, when to call the doctor, home and toy safety, returning to work, finding a good baby-sitter and traveling with baby.

Classes are offered once a month with a fee of $10 per couple or $5 per couple for Special Delivery members. Call (618) 257-5855 for dates and times of classes and to register.

Sibling Class

Memorial Maternity Center offers a Sibling Class to make it easier for big brothers and sisters to prepare for and accept a new baby. This class is designed for children ages 3 through 12 and meets once a month. Limited to children whose sibling will be born at Memorial Maternity Center.

There is a fee of $5 per child or $2 per child for Special Delivery members. Class size is limited and reservations are requested. Call (618) 257-5855.

Prenatal Breastfeeding

This class is designed to provide vital information to those who are considering breastfeeding their baby.

The class meets once a month. There is a $10 fee per couple or $5 for Special Delivery members. Both parents are encouraged to attend. For more information, call (618) 257-5855.

Breastfeeding Support for New Mothers

While breastfeeding is natural, it isn't always automatic. To assist you in being successful with breastfeeding during those critical early days and weeks of nursing a newborn. Our certified lactation consultants or lactation counselors are available to assist you during your stay as well with private sessions after delivery .

There is no fee for this service, call (618) 257-5855 to talk with a certified lactation consultant or lactation counselor. An appointment is necessary.
